His medical treatment failed in China, and he can't

take care of himself, not to mention long-distance travel. And he doesn't have insurance there. In fact he's applying for disability leave. Will that make the case?

2. I'm his only care-taker in U.S. Do I have to return to China and wait for the waiver to be approved before I can re-enter? I don't know whether there is any visa for me to apply in that situation? That will be a unthinkable hardship for him. Have you heard that such cases can be approved in shorter period of time? Or is there anything for J-1 like "practical training" for F1?
