H1B 新旧转换期急问！！！

I-140已经批准，有公卡到今年10月左右到期。老公得到了大学Faculty职位的Offer，8月11号去报到并做些开学前的准备工作（实发工资日从9月1号算起）。7月31号是现在工作的最后工作日。今天老公打电话到新学校去问，说是新的H1B资料在处理还未送出（处理我们case的临时更换了），他们说大概下周可以送出。 很多人都说要新的H1B申请收据拿到后才算时合法身份，那如果在7月31到8月11号这段日子里老公不工作并且也没有拿到收据（H1B已经送出）的情况下，我们的身份会有问题吗？
只有两个星期了，真的很着急，先谢谢大家了。
