Again-how for F2 from H1

I'm loosing my job, so want to switch my visa from H1 to F2, but I have several questions. Would you please give me any suggestion if you know. THanks a lot!
1. When should I submit this application out? I have less than 2 months left and I'm still trying to find a new job.
2. How to explain to INS why I want to change my visa to F2? I guess I may not tell them the truth(loose job), correct? BUt what should I say?
3. My I-140 is pending, but close to be processed. I have got EAD. If I cannot find a job, What is the use of EAD? How does EAD card help me keep my leagal status?
4. If I change my visa to F2, my H1 will be invalid. How about my EAD? And how about NIW application? All of them will be no use?

Sorry, I have a lot of questions, but I really need your help. That would be nice if you could give me detailed anwsers. Again thank you so much!
