请教关于J-1签证的结婚问题

本人是中国公民，在英国读博，现在美做访问学者。

欲与一持有美国绿卡的中国公民结婚，不知是否违反J-1签证的有关规定；是否一定要申请其他签证？

我担心申请移民的时间太长，申请期间我不方便出入境。请问如何解决在J-1签证到期后既能和老公共同生活，又能够自由出入境的问题？
