Consular processing of Non-immigrant Visa (NIV) is a complex and ever-changing process. Applicants may consult with an experienced attorney who has updated info about the specific consular post.
Assuming satisfactory interview, visas are normally printed and passports are dispatched by Chronopost within 24-48 hours. Passports are returned only by traceable mail. Because of these variables, NIV clients should be instructed not to make firm travel plans for at least two business days after the date of their interview.
Note: concular processing info is changing frequently. If you want to do it yourself, you'd better check out the state department's website for the specific requirements by the specific consular post.
