请教小白兔及大侠: H1B1&H4 expiring;I485s pending生活仍要继续 GuE

Dear 小白兔及大侠 :

I am a H1B1 visa holder. My daughter is an H4 visa holder and an undergraduate student. Our visas are expired by 8/31/06. Up to now I do not have any job offer yet. My I-140 has approved last July and I filed I-485s for me and my daughter last September.
My problems are:
1. I do have EAD valid till next April. I really want to keep H1B1 for me and H4 for my daughter till we get Green Card.
2. If I get a job offer in September, can I file H1B1 for me and H4 applications for my daughter in September? I was told that I must file visa extension application before 08/31/06.
3. I am very worried about my daughter’s status. If she changes to F-1 status, is she still able to waiting for Green card approved? We just ted RFE for her I-485 to USCIS a week ago. It means our I-485s are been processing, right?
4. How long am I able to stay in US legally without job from September 1?
5. Her college says if my lawyer said she can apply for F-1, they can give her F-1 status I-20. The problem is that we do not have a lawyer. I did I-140 and I485s by my self.
