DJ Israel Signals Prolonged Campaign Against Iran

By David Wainer

Israel's top general warned war with Iran could be lengthy, calling it the most complex military campaign in the country's history. Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir said the Israeli army has destroyed about half of Iran's missile launchers and struck pillars of its command structure and nuclear infrastructure. But he said that "difficult days still lie ahead" and that Israel must be ready for a "prolonged campaign."

The tone marks a shift from the early days of the war with Iran, when Israeli officials suggested it could last one to two weeks. President Trump has indicated he might take up to two weeks to decide whether the U.S. will join the fight. Israeli leaders appear to be recalibrating expectations and preparing the public for a longer conflict.
