DJ Gold Rises Amid Lingering Uncertainty Over U.S.-China Trade War -- Market Talk
2347 GMT - Gold rises in the early Asian session amid lingering uncertainty over U.S.-China trade war, which could enhance the safe-haven appeal of the precious metal. On Wednesday, "Treasury Secretary Bessent has kind of quashed speculation around any unilateral move from (President) Trump to slash tariffs on China, confirming there's no such offer on the table," says Fawad Razaqzada, market analyst at City Index and FOREX.com. "Judging by Bessent's comments, a trade agreement could take a long time," Razaqzada says. For now, the analyst stays cautious on risk and keeps a bullish long-term gold outlook. Spot gold is 0.7% higher at $3,311.08/oz. (ronnie.harui@wsj.com)
