DJ Chinese Shares Broadly Higher Amid Trade Tension Easing Hopes -- Market Talk
0154 GMT - Chinese shares are broadly higher in early trade. Investor sentiment is positive after President Trump said that tariffs on Chinese goods will come down "substantially" after the two sides negotiate a deal. Auto and software stocks are leading the gains. BYD is up 3.9% and Seres Group is 0.9% higher. Among software names, iFlyTek gains 0.3% and Range Intelligent Computing Technology Group is 1.5% higher. Telecom stocks are lower, with China Mobile down 1.6% and China Telecom declining 1.0%. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index is down 0.1%; the Shenzhen Composite Index is up 0.6%, and the ChiNext Price Index is 0.9% higher. (sherry.qin@wsj.com)
