A lot of small and low cost Chinese companies actually had trouble to continue in the mobile phone business because Nokia/Samsung all were making low cost phones. The mobile phone price was as long as $20-$50 before smart phone became popular. It is hard to do any business with such low price product, and most of them don't even want to pay license fee for the phone OS. Now, the free Android allow them to get into smart phone market without too much overhead.
