One stupid bank upgraded the whole sector (software), which I think is rediculous.
As for Microsoft, I think it's related to their employee stock purchase plan and the fact that the company claimed it's going to buy back shares. However, I really think the buyback is just one of the strategy for the company to push the stock higher. They could buyback, but they don't have to. MSFT doesn't have any big release next year, it's aggressively cutting cost recently; how the stock can go higher? They have big cash pool, buyback is the only way to compensate the shareholders except the dividend.
