had carpet with dog urine, floor badly stained. At that time I had nobody working for me. 

Spent a couple of days did a good clean job, ripped off carpet, cleaned floor, and painted the floor with floor paint.

Then I applied a good layer of poly.

This floor was still in pretty good shape when I sold the house 14 years later...
