Many many years ago, I  bought a 3 bedroom house -owner financing (I just came to USA and started my college life).  I rented to each individual student.  I divided the basement into 3 rooms and opened an egress window(without carpet- concrete floor- I did not have extra money),  However I passed the city inspection and received the occupancy permit.  The whole basement was rented to 3 male Indian students; but occupied at least 9 students.  Upper stairs, I occupied one room; and two rooms were rented out to two Chinese girls.   That is how I started my interests in real estate business.   What a good memories!  I still remember that one Indian student helped me to cut grass every week.  A Chinese girl always helped me to take care my pet.  I am lucky.  For 3 years co-living with all kinds of people,   I finished the degree debt free;  and learnt a lot from them.  I have fond memories.
