南加州大学是名校吗？

以前的邻居一家三口放弃了国内的一切偷渡去了美国，说是想给孩子一个未来。当时的小娃娃现在是南加州大学计算机专业的学生。父母因为身份，学历的限制一直在做劳工。

我不了解南加大，请问这是名校吗？看楼下有人说学费很贵，不知孩子的父母如何付得起那高昂。
