As of October 2025, there are no longer any individuals involved in the January 6 Capitol riot in federal prison due to a mass pardon and commutations granted by President Donald Trump shortly after he took office in January 2025.
- Widespread clemency: The action covered nearly all of the approximately 1,600 people charged in connection with the riot.
- Most convictions erased: Full pardons were issued to the vast majority of individuals, erasing their convictions for January 6-related offenses.
- Sentences commuted for leaders: For the most high-profile defendants convicted of seditious conspiracy, including members of the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers, Trump commuted their sentences to "time served". This allowed for their immediate release but left their convictions on record.
