我先回一个不敏感，跟时事有距离的：
我们高中一个现象： 去学校帮忙的妈妈远多于爸爸。而近就几个月因为我家高中生申请大学， 时不时去隔壁子女教育坛取经， 发现爸爸们抱怨的声音最大， 比如爸爸们抱怨高中AP老师其实不懂，比如数理课水平低之类的。
给我的感觉是： 爸爸们要求高， 参与少。 我的理解是，美国的公立k-12 本来就是集资建校，预估就是需要父母的各种形式的参与。 真参与进去，也许就会更看到高中老师们的辛苦付出，
再有规则和理解本来就是流动的， 不停的根据各种反馈而调整的， 或者跟着时代的前进而变化。 举个例子， 前几天刚听到新闻里说美国几百年前跟土著居民冲突的landmark，以今天的眼光来看，对印第安土著的理解有多少偏见：
