求救：不支付信用卡负债，会被起诉，或者坐牢吗？

我的一个朋友，在2年前回国时，没有支付信用卡上的余额，大约10000美元。请问，他现在再次进入美国，会被起诉吗？或者，从那里可以查到信用卡公司是否已经起诉了该案件？这个金额会导致坐牢吗？
有律师可以咨询这方面的问题吗?
