放DVD没声音, help!!!

When I try to play a dvd, I can view the picture but no sound, no matter which program to use. I can play a vcd with sound and picture. So I don't think something is wrong with the sound card. Might there be some software conflict? Do u happen to know why? Thanks a lot!
