HELP: can't display in primary monitor

When I changed monitor settings to secondary one, I can watch it on TV. However, I don't know how to switch it back. Right now, I can only use TV as my monitor. When I tried to hook up to a regular monitor, it can display boot-up processes and windows XP logo. then it shows a black screen. What did I do wrong to cause this problem?
