First, you need to shut down your PC. Open the case, remove both the IDE cable (flat) and power line from the harddisk, then you need to remove the screws that fix the harddisk to the case. Finally, you put out the hard disk.

Before you do anything with the PC part, touch a piece of metal with your hand to release the static charge of your body. The static charge may damage some of the PC parts.
