check which booktype your player accepts, DVD-R or DVD+R. Some player only accept DVD-R type. Then you need to change the burner to burn to that booktype. BTW, not all burner can change the booktype. Check your burner manu. I've been burning DVD-R booktype on DVD+R disc all the time as my chinese DVD player can only accept DVD-R booktype, but my american one likes DVD+R disc but doesn't care about booktype.So I can play DVD on either player.
One more thing, burning speed. Not all players accept 4x, 8x or 16x. In that case, even you have a 16x burner, you only can burn at maybe 2.4x for your DVD player.
