dell laptop crash problem

This laptop was my boss's. She always has trouble with it because it crashed quite often. Now I formatted the hard drive and re-installed windows XP professional. Then windows office was installed. The problem is that whenever the user open word or excel or any other office documents, it works fine. However, when you try to save any file, the laptop just crashed. There is no other software installed in the laptop. I was wondering what the problem could be. Software conflict or hardware? This laptop was just 2 years old. Any suggestion will be appreciated.
