Can any one help?

Here's the problem:
1.The computer was using ok all along,shut down,uplugged power cord for location moving.
2.Plugged in power cord, start the machine but it won't start,it is literally dead,then I smelt something burn ( machine still dead ) from the power supply.
3.Replaced the power supply but it still doesn't start.
4.Removed CPU and checked the pins,it's all ok,put it back and tried start up,still dead.
My friends said there may be the case power switch is damaged,I also take it apart the burnt power supply and saw a burn mark inside,why the computer still dead after I used the new power supply?
Short circuit and affected other components? Any one can give me an answer?
