Q: "Bad Boot Signature byte"

"hp QuickRestore (System Recovery CD, Microsoft Windows XP Home SP1)” was used to reformat and restore the hard drive of HP pavilion ze5270 laptop.

There was a dialogue box “Error #1500, Bad Boot Signature byte” which popped out at almost the end of the process (around 98% of coping data) and then everything stopped.

Any suggestions on how to solve the problem?
