Help HDD problem, tks!!!!

Hi, everybody,

I have a IBM R31 laptop
just bought 40G Hdd to replace old 20G hdd, when I installed it and switched on, it showed in the screen:

PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0f: Exiting Intel PXE ROM.

when I use 40G hdd as removable storage disk, the pc can't recognise it either.

I hv racked my brain a bit. help me please!
any idea about it?
