The linux kernel will try to use as many free memory as possible, for performance reason. If you find out that most memory is being used even without too many application, that is ok. On this point, linux kernel handles momeory different as windows kernel.
If you start more and more applications, the kernel will give up a lot of memory to applications. This is not memory leak. Don't worry.
