Help: how to type in Chinese

My friend is going to type in Chinese. What she is going to do is:

From Microsoft Word, Tools --> Lanagues --> Set Language --> highlight "Chinese"
--> click "Default".

It will create a *.doc file.


Any other way(s), such as writting email in Chinese?
