Hard drive problem?

My SonyVaio PCG-GRX520 are dead!!!! I tried to recoverthe system by using the recovery disk from the factory, but it did not work and gave me incompatible images stuffs. I also tried to fix the hard drive by using CHKDSK /r, the C drive went through, but D drive met unrecoverable problem. Any expert knows what the problem could be??? Do I need change a hard drive?
