urgent! help needed!!!

hi, I got a problem with my computer, after I download movie, my computer just shut off.
rebooting, the system shows inability to find my hard drive, I was trying to change bios to get into windows. it does not work. The bios is not able to detect the hard drive? Does that mean my hard drive is damaged or expired?
