0. Are you using the right card?? there are, usually, 3 kinds of wireless. 802.11A, 802.11B, 802.11G. Usually people would have 802.11B or 802.11G it should be written on your router.
1. SSID: 有两种,一种是自动播发的,另外一种是要手动输入的。(One setting is broadcast from the Wireless Router, the other entered mannully. If the wireless router set it to be entered mannully, you have to enter it yourself.)
2. WEP: Wired Eqvilent Privacy. It means that everything transmitted over the wireless network is encrypted, there are two settings supported on most wireless routers. 1) 64-bit encryption 2)128-bit encryption. Sometimes 64-bit has two choices, one is use the serial number on the bottom of the Router as decryption Key, the other kind is your customized key. In both cases, you have to let your receiver know what the key is in order to decrypt the signal.
3. Channel: Which channel is the wireless router broadcasting? Is it broadcasting in Channel 6? channel 1? You have to know the channel.
4. DHCP: Is your wireless router automatically assigning IPs to its receivers?? This usually is set as default.
5. Are you trying to steal someone's wireless connection? Well, in that case, you would need a "Network stumbler" which scans your area for available networks. Then their key can be cracked, if say they are set on 64-bit encryption, which with enough power, can be cracked.
