the hd shouldn't be too hard to take out, i've done it before. however, you don't need to do that now.

you can try to use Knoppix to start the computer, and see what's going on on the hd. Knoppix is a CD based OS so it will work even your hd goes bad.

what have you done last time that might cause the problem?
