We're using IBM notebooks at work (required by the company).
I don't know how reliable they are. A couple of them are not working
well now. They are about 2 years old. I have a Toshiba notebook
at home which is also about 2 years old and it works just fine.
IBM's LCD is better than my Toshiba. My Toshiba notebook costed me
about $650 (after rebates). I'm quite happy with it. For $1000 now,
you should be able to get a much better one than mine.
