google "crossover cable", you will learn what it is. IF you use a hub or switch, you will not need "crossover cable", but you need two "straight" cables. you can connect more than two computers together.

In your XP, help and support center, you will find information on how to create home network.

OR use the wizard "setup home or small network" under my network place fold to create automatically.
