about upgrade to winxp sp2

I am using winxp sp1 now. just check that the official english winxp sp2 available for update now. I am not sure if my cd-key is good for sp2 or not. what If i download and installed the sp2 from the windows update, will i can't enter windows after updated? How can i tell if my cd-key if good or not? Thanks....
