Want to use QQ in Win2000

I installed QQ2003III-English version on my Win2000 machine. I also installed Microsoft IME 2003 so I can type Chinese. At first, I could not see any Chinese characters in QQ. Late I installed NJStar and can see Chinese char now. I can type chinese in chat window, but when I send it, it displayed as empty in chat history window. I asked the other side chat friend and he could not see any character that I sent. I can see Chinese char that he sent to me.

Anyone has idea how to set up machine so that I can send Chinese char? (I know WindXP can do it well.) Thank you a lot!
