how to get rid of ad ware?help

hi, computer guru:
my computer was infected with ad ware today after I mistakingly clicked one pop up commercial. now, my computer is slowed down greatly and pop up all over when the browser is open. I removed suspicious software from add/remove control panel, but it didnt' fix the problem completely. please tell me how to remove ad ware or pop up ad completely, your imput is greatly appreciated!, thanks!
