change window xp setting?

i'm currently working on a PC that has window XP professional. it is set in the way that everytime when the computer starts, it erases all my (or anyone) saved files and installed programs. in another word, it does not allow you to save anything in it. you need to save files on floppy or zip disk only.

i need a freeware program for 2 weeks, and i wish i could leave it on teh PC just for 2 weeks. is there any way to change the setting? i will change it back to what it is after 2 weeks.
