How to connect computer to

computer using windows XP?
I just bought a dell laptop with windows XP. I wanna transfer all my files in a old computer with windows 2000. I connected these 2 computers with a crossover RJ45 cable and setup both computers' workgroup as WORKGROUP. I also setup both computers' IP as follows:

PC1: IP address 100.100.100.100
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
PC2: IP address 100.100.100.101
subnet mask 255.255.255.0

But they can't see each other.

Then I tried using NetBeui protocol on both computers without seting up their IP addresses, they still can't see each other. But in both cases 2 computers can communicate with the command: Ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.

Please help me out if you know how to make them see each other. Thank you very much and I will appreciate your help.
