请问一下Verizon FIOS 电视盒子问题。真不想每月租那破盒子

有那盒子以后，非常清楚'full HD。如果不用那盒子，直接接电视的话。画面不清楚。
都是数字信号啊。咋那么大区别呢？ Google 了一下，说是啥QAM tuner.
我这是个很老的sharp LCD.（LC 52E77U) 查了一下，也带那个tuner 。 
还有那个电视卡是咋回事？ 我那电视机好像没那插槽。
