yes, because you download weChat from AppleStore，you have to get an AppleID. When you apply this ID, you will be requested to enter all information including credit card information. That's ok, it's just a regular process, weChat is free in AppleStore.

Also if you just install 'free' application in the future, they won't charge anything from your credit card. Don't worry, I had same concern before, but i've been having AppleID for several years, it's pretty safe.
