Thanks a lot.

I just bought a buffalo NAS linkstation. all problems gone.

so this seems to be a problem of the seagate NAS. i dont know what problem it is, but probably i guess this NAS does not support some kinds of printers.

the buffalo one has limitations too -- it clearly says OS X cannot print. but it at least solves most problems.

i really do not like NAS from seagate. it is more expensive, and quality seems low.
