Recover from harddrive crash with DELL XPS M1330 factory.wim

我的XPS M1330前一阵被我儿子给搞坏了。 硬盘CRASH， 尽管我尝试了用F8 恢复， 可惜硬盘根本没有办法修复， 并发出异响，可以断定是物理损伤。 数据大部分都有备份， 有损失， 不太大。 主要是如何恢复。 因为DELL 没有给recover disk. 没有driver CD. 尽管孤狗了好一阵， 没有解决方案， 着实费了一番周折， 现在写下过程， 以备后人借鉴。

我用其他电脑检查时， 发现硬盘上的recover partition还可以读， dellimage有一个factory.wim文件， 还有几个folders. 其中有一个tools folder. 里面有一个imagex.exe文件。 我就是用了这两个文件恢复到出厂的设置。

1。 把毁坏的硬盘上的D: 全部拷贝到另一台电脑上。
2。 连接新硬盘到这台电脑上。开机， format 新硬盘， 可能需要到disk management to active new harddrive.
3。 打开Command Prompt
4. CD 到tools 的folder 。
5。 打出命令：imagex /apply (你拷的位置)dellimagefactory.wim 1 D: (你新硬盘的字母）
6. wait for 15-20 mins. it will finish. shut down and take out the harddrive, put it into the laptop. the laptop won't bootup with this recover image. the boot up section needs some repair.
7. now you need go to internet download windows recover disk file. You can find it anywhere, then in chinese website or you can use any windows reinstallation disk.(should be same as your old one, mine is vista)

8. Start your computer with the recover disk. do the system repair.
7. after repair, the computer will auto restart. if it still not start windows. try to repair again.
