请问xeon是不是比个人电脑的CPU性能好？

比如用xeon处理器是不是比个人电脑用的i7-930要性能好（如果其他配置类似）。

我老公平时用电脑run fortran程序，他说要买服务器（就是dell for small and medium business里面的电脑），因为服务器贵（他觉得贵的就是好的），我觉得没必要，难道用i7-930之类还不如一个双核的xeon吗？而且for small and medium business的电脑随便一配都要1300刀。

有经验的童鞋们不知道能不能给点建议呢？
