我只试过Fresh XP installation cloning.

如果USB容量足够大，理论上应该可以直接用USboot把Windows XP装进USB。For the device drivers and software installed on the desktop, I'm not sure if they will work once transferred to USB.
It's much easier to clone a fresh installation and then install device drivers and software on the laptop.
