You need true 3 band or 4 band phone for this. ONLY United States has something that no one else uses. GSM is normally at 900/1800MHz, But in the states, they are 850 and 1900MHz, just so that you can't use the phone!

Luckily, 4 band phones are very popular now, at least with T-mobile.
