windows XP 不能启动，高手们帮帮忙吧

用了5年的笔记本，突然不能启动，提示错误是
Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

用"Last Known Good Configuration" 不行
用系统盘(operating system CD)也不行, 提示点击"R"进入Recovery Console后，也只是让我输入“EXIT”后重新启动，没有任何作用。

机器旧了，但是里面有孩子们几年来的照片，实在不能忍受格式化硬盘。有没有高手们能帮我这个忙，谢谢了！！！
