几点建议：

1 汉字可以试试文曲星字库
2 fedora, ubuntu, suse都是又大又笨的distro。初学者可以看看pclinuxos，有一定的经验后，可以试试其他的，像debian, slack, arch和gentoo，系统的安装和组合，自己可以有更大的选择余地
3 试试其他的WM，gnome和kde还是太大了，xfce, fluxbox, openbox，甚至一些tiling wms，像awesome, dwm等都很小巧快捷。个人观点是系统资源是用来做有意义的事，不应该浪费在wm上
