it's very expensive. If you want a decent drive without breaking your bank account, then you should buy either Pioneer 106 ($169) or NEC 1300A. Optorite 203 ($140 only) is also very good. You will need either DVD-Decrypter (free) or DVD X Copy. Making a backup copy of your DVD does take awhile--about 90 minutes (This figure comes from 321studtio, the maker of DVD-X-Copy. Actual performance will depend on your DVD-rom/DVD burner speed, computer memory, and CPU computing power). You will also need to buy decent DVD-R disc which costs about $1.50 each. You might be able to get away with using cheaper DVD-R media ($1.00) but I don't recommend them since they have higher p0/pI error rate than the name brand media and they are not playable on on DVD player.
Anyways, I don't like copying DVD movies since it takes a long time. I use DVD-R to store lots files and TV shows series since I am sick of keeping track and sorting through a large collection of CD-Rs.
Plextor 8X is the fastest but
