Vista Home Premium 64 bit & Window 7

Does anyone have experience where they downloaded Window 7 into the PC that comes with Vista HP 64 bit? Can you have 2 different operating systems in a PC like: Vista HP 64 bit with Window 7 or Vista HP 64 bit with Window XP? If so please share your experience as how they work.
