pls help:endpoint symantec antivirus cannot full scan computer

endpoint symantec antivirus always interrupted while full scanning my new sony-vaio laptop. is there any solution for this problem? also firewall could not be turned on no matter what i did. i am so worry to use this brand new computer with these two security issues. need your helps!
